22 JULY 2019 | ELTHAM PALACE WEDDING | LONDON WEDDING VENUE| GREENWICH WEDDING VENUE
Tucked away in the depths of South East London there’s a hidden treasure of a wedding venue. Eltham Palace, in the borough of Greenwich, is a historic English Heritage site which once served as the childhood home to Henry VIII. To say it’s a beautiful venue for a wedding is definitely an understatement. Eltham Palace is truly breath-taking and for Mary and Paul’s Harry Potter themed wedding, it couldn’t have been more perfect. Eltham Palace is absolutely packed with unique spaces so, come rain or shine, this venue won’t fail to deliver a bit of magic.
The Entrance Hall
The wedding ceremony took place in the beautiful art deco surroundings of the Entrance Hall. The most striking feature of this room is undoubtedly the glass dome ceiling which allows natural light to flood the space. With the guests seated in a full circle, Mary and Paul tied the knot literally surrounded by their friends and family. It felt both intimate and dramatic at the same time.
Following the ceremony, we moved outside into the stunning gardens for cake cutting and fizz. At this point, we were able to take some time to get away for some portrait shots. In the gardens of Eltham Palace, I felt absolutely spoilt for choice when it came to the wedding portraits. It’s a photographer’s playground!
The Great Hall
Finally, we moved into the Great Hall for the reception. This was, without a doubt, one of the most jaw-dropping reception spaces I’ve ever seen with its huge medieval hammer beam roof. For a Harry Potter themed wedding, the Great Hall was the perfect setting to create a Hogwartsesque banquet.
The celebrations ran well into the night and as Mary and Paul were joined by their loved ones on the dancefloor, there was definitely a sense that they had added their own story to the history of Eltham Palace.
There’s so much to say about this wedding that I can’t fit it all into one blog post. I will definitely be posting soon with more details about the Harry Potter elements of the day but in the meantime, below are a few highlights, or you can find the full gallery here. Enjoy!
